Welcome to Soldiers of Redemption!

This article gives you a quick introduction to the basics of Entropia Universe and our society.

There's a lot to explore and discover in Entropia Universe (EU): amazing landscapes, crazy creatures, rewarding missions and much more.

With some activities you can earn PEDs (the in-game currency, 1 PED = 0.1 USD), with other activities you will lose PEDs in the long run.

Easy activities to earn PEDs are:
- sweating mobs: extract sweat from mobs with a tool
- gather fruit: walk around at low speed and pick up fruit that pops up randomly
These activities will pay you about 1-2 PED/h in average. (Read the guides about those activities for details.)

You can also easily earn PEDs by investing into Calypso Land Deeds or Arkadia Underground Deeds, but that means you have to deposit quite a lot of money first, in order to live on the interest payments. And of course, investment comes with risk, so consider it like the purchase of stocks at a stock market. Only invest what you can afford to lose.

If you are a trader, you might try your luck buying and selling items. But be aware, you're not the only one doing that, competition is rough and you most likely won't make a lot of money in a short time!

Activities that burn PEDS are:
- hunting
- mining
- crafting
While you are sometimes lucky and get a big return from a mob, a mining claim or a craft run, you will most likely lose some PEDs in the long run.

If you play wisely however, you can well limit the amount of PEDs you burn to about 1-5 PED/h. Just accept that MindArk has to make money somehow to run this game. If you join Entropia expecting it to be a money cow, you will soon be disappointed. But if you accept it is pay-to-play for the listed activities, you will be rewarded with many hours of good entertainment. Enjoy the days where you end up with profit, and don't complain about days you end up with a loss. Just look to it as your contribution to keep the game running.

I recommend to everyone to start the game as a hunter - unless you want to craft and trade only. As a miner you need some hunting skills as well, since contact with mobs is almost inevitable sometimes.

Of course there's a lot to learn in this game. Here's the most important, if you want to save money:
1) Never buy anything for a price higher than Trade Terminal (TT) value, unless you know you need it and it is worth the price.
2) Always check the item info before you use a weapon or a tool (right-click item -> Item Info -> Show Detailed Information). For weapons, make sure following stats are maxed for you (value before slash is what you get, value after slash is what weapon can do when maxed): Damage interval, Hit ability, Critical hit ability. For healing tools, the healing interval must be maxed. Likewise for mining tools. In the beginning, you might not find any weapon or tool that is maxed for you. Just buy the items from TT then and skill up until you can make economic use of higher level weapons or tools. Remember: Decay and ammo burn are always the same, so you quickly lose money when using items that are not maxed for you.
3) Don't use armor. If you cannot hunt a mob without armor, just wait until you levelled up a bit more. If you want to use armor anyway, make sure you only use fully repaired and complete armor sets that are suitable for the mob you hunt. (e.g. Pixie armor is great against Kerberos and Argonauts. But it's totally useless against Drones - yet it still decays with each hit you take. With incomplete armor sets you still get full damage quite often, while the parts you wear decay.)
4) Never use items like weapon attachments, amplifiers and enhancers before you understand how they work and what they do at what cost.
5) Don't sell your loot to TT. For small amounts it's best to sell it to traders in Twin Peaks, they pay you some markup (MU). If you stack larger amounts you can sell it in the auction house (AH) - just make sure the markup well covers the auction fee.

When you hunt, be patient. You might soon find out that most mobs don't return nearly as much as you spent as ammo on them. However, occasionally a mob will drop a larger amount of loot, making up most of your loss.

Be patient also with levelling. This is not a game where you become uber within a few weeks. Most likely you'll never hit level 100 in any profession. Just enjoy the game, get carried away by the fascinating and large landscapes, play missions, socialize and have fun.

Last but not least: Soldiers of Redemption will help you to get started, so don't hesitate to ask questions in society (soc) chat. We also do team hunting together regularly (called "soc hunt"), for those who like to hunt in groups. Our rules are quite simple: No drama, no scam, no begging, no bad behaviour or cursing in society and public channels. We just try to help each other and have fun.
